After the Regime Change, in the Autumn of 1990, the two Sections of the Hungarian Jesuit Archive were united. The Archive was refounded in 1991 by historian László Lukács OSJ, who copied the correspondence of the provincial figures and generals in the Central Jesuit Archive in Rome. Today, the Jesuit Archive in Budapest continues to receive documents about the Society of Jesus, but many documents are still held in the municipal archives.
